Roger Smith- the sarcastic, flamboyant, and sounds just like Paul Lynde alien from American Dad! has become a master of disguise since the show's initiation in 2005. For twenty years, Roger has crafted an infinite number of personas, ranging from the everyday 9-5 guy to the most elaborate.
The personas come in handy when Roger needs to step out of the Smith home and into the real world. Nobody suspects that he's an alien from Roswell and is hiding from the government when he dresses as one of his invented characters. Plus, he lives up in the Smith's attic, and to pass the time, he creates alternate realities by dressing up and working their jobs.
Since Roger hasn't conformed to any gender, his personas are not limited to male, female, or animal. Because of this, he can create anyone he desires and no one has a problem with it.
While all of Roger's personas are iconic, we had to boil it down to five. Choosing them was based on fans' popularity and creation.
5 Roger Smith personas that were epic from American Dad!
Dr. Penguin
Dr. Penguin is a fan favorite due to his nonsensical treatment plans that's comedically delivered. While he mostly listens and psychoanalyzes the Smiths, Dr. Penguin ventures out the home to engage in group therapy sessions and offer the same quack advice to the participants.
The only one who doesn't follow Dr. Penguin' suggestions is Klaus, as the goldfish knows he's filled with nothing but false information. But that's mainly the point here as Roger is only pretending but trying to make himself authentic.
Genevieve Vavance
She's a top reporter in new media after the glitz and glam of the gossip circuit and has no desire to report the truth. Yet, when Steve goes missing one night, it's up to Genevieve and her intern, Haley, to find him. It's a pressurized job, but it's a normal day for broadcasters.
The rescue mission was a success, so maybe the phony reporter has a heart of authenticity under the desire for fame.
Ruby Zeldastein
Francine becomes a spirited deviant, so Ruby Zeldastin is summoned to perform a ghost exodus. She's a parody of Zelda Rubinstein's medium character, Tangina Barrons, from the hit 1982 horror movie Poltergeist. Having Roger recreate this memorable face was a delightful tribute to the actress and film.

Scotch Bingington
This persona was a callback to the Y2K and late 1990s MTV spring break party boy. True to his form. Scotch has a party in the backyard, complete with alcohol, music, a pool, and an off-copy of Carmen Electra. He declares himself the "King of Spring Break," as he's thrown the most wicked party the world has ever scene.
Having been in my very early college years in the 2000s, spring break was that time to break away from hardcore studying and all-nighters for a week of freedom. Hence the name "spring break" and the hero behind it, Scotch Bingington.

The Legman
A partner to the fictional law enforcement team, Wheels and the Legman, Roger transforms into a crime-solving plain clothes detective, whereas Steve portrays the disabled Wheels. The two are great at cases and putting together clues. Legman might get a little ahead of himself, but that's just Roger slipping out of character.
With season 20 on the way to Fox, there will be plenty more of Roger's personas to gasp at and see what he'll come up with next!
