There is no denying how great the holiday episodes of Bob's Burgers are. That's why it's so exciting to talk about this year's Halloween episode, "Whom the Doll Toes."

While Bob's Burgers bucked the trend last year, season 15 is back with the scares and the cares. Am I the only one who picked Linda Belcher saying that? Either way, the show is back with its newest offering for Halloween.

Whether you're someone who only catches the holiday episodes or watches every week, there is no way this episode is going to disappoint. Of course, we'll have to find out if it fits into the scary or funny category, as the show tends to toe the line year by year.

The episode starts with the Belcher kids walking home from school and Tina stops at the barette shop to find her costume: Barettey Kruger. Gene also shares that he wasn't invited to a friend's Halloween gathering. Once they leave, they find a doll shop which is run by one of their substitutes: Miss Bisselbender, and find out she makes these Halloween scenes in a dollhouse. Louise suggests that the two team up to create a dollhouse murder mystery and the family shows up the next day to see it.

Tina and Gene hear the entire mystery from Louise including the death of Mr. Brownsuit and they're tasked with finding out who the murderer is. Tina agrees to interrogate all of the remaining dolls and before they can get any real answers, Mr. Tie is killed. They find a clue in Mr. Tie's pocket and find out that a murder occurred during their time at boarding school together.

Gene starts to realize that some of the murder mystery is based around him but before he can say more, Mr. Stiff Arms is killed. Tina is down to investigate but Gene wants to skip until the end and they find out that they all witnessed a teacher die because she was trying to fix her camel toe. Mr. Funny Eyes admits that they didn't tell anyone and want to move on. This time, Mr. Funny Eyes is the one who is dead.

Mr. Sweater and Mr. Jacket start arguing with Mr. Jacket saying that Mr. Sweater is too nice which is why he wasn't at their gathering at school. Gene realizes what Louise is trying to do and they find out that the Chef is the one who did it. Tina questions the motive and Louise explains that the chef is actually Mr. Sweater's sister: Miss Sweater and killed them all for revenge.

Gene confronts Louise and she admits that the entire situation was born from a situation at school involving her, Gene, and Miss Bisselbender. Louise explains that she did everything to make Gene feel better and Louise wants to take a dollhouse home. The episode ends with Bob feeding Teddy a burger and a scene between Mr. Sweater and his sister while she's in jail.

Was "Whom the Doll Toes" a trick or treat from Bob's Burgers?

With some slight disappointment toward episode 3, I was incredibly excited and slightly nervous about the show's Halloween episode. Thankfully, Bob's Burgers absolutely killed it with this one and I do mean that in the best way. Somehow, the show managed to perfectly nail the mix of both being slightly scary and heartwarming at the same time.

It was nice to see Louise showing Gene some love yet doing it in her own way. Louise has grown so much as a character and "Whom the Doll Toes" proves it. Plus it was fun to see how everything connected back to what happened at school. There is also no denying that the return of Tina Fey was awesome and something I'm sure none of us saw coming. Let's hope she appears in another holiday episode.

The episode was multi-layered with Louise trying to cheer up Gene while also crafting two mysteries and I adored it. If you're in the Halloween mood, then "Whom the Doll Toes" is such a unique Halloween offering from Bob's Burgers. It'll be interesting to see where it ranks among all of the other Halloween Bob's Burgers episodes.

Bob's Burgers airs on Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
