The episode begins with Bob getting ready for the day and he uses all of Linda's new shampoo. This all happens before the kids head to school and they find out their after-lunch recess is canceled. At the restaurant, Teddy explains that he's picking up Kathleen from her colonoscopy. Louise and Gene find out that recess is canceled due to a drone, flying over the school.

Teddy ends up calling the restaurant, saying he's at the hospital and he needs Linda to go get Kathleen. Teddy explains that he had a horrible situation of getting stung by a bee and shooting his foot with a nail gun. Despite that, Teddy is determined to go pick up Kathleen and he recruits Linda to come pick him up.

At school, Louise gets all of their friends involved to give the school a butt that will look like farting, which adults won't notice, but kids will. While working alone, Bob gets even more confident about his hair and believes his customers are talking about him. Things get even worse for Teddy and Linda as Linda gets pulled over and they end up with a police escort until Linda hits him and another cop shows up.

Louise's idea starts to fall apart, and Bob finds out that Linda stole shampoo from Mort's dumpster and the woman's family shows up. Teddy explains to Linda that he was so excited to pick up Kathleen, and it means a lot to him so Linda decides to figure out a way and she's able to convince the cops to help them out.

At the restaurant, Bob allows the customer to smell his hair so he'll feel better. Teddy ends up, making it in time to see Kathleen, and Louise ends up giving up her plan so everyone can dance while using the fog machine. The episode ends a week later with the entire family watching the drone footage.

Was "Colon-ly the Dronely" solid or a skip from Bob's Burgers?

As a long-time Bob's Burgers fan, I think I have a pretty good grasp on what works on the show and what doesn't. Unfortunately, "Colon-ly the Dronely" felt like a little bit too much in terms of plot. This has become a pretty common complaint of mine when it comes to Bob's Burgers, but sometimes, the episodes don't need that much.

In the case of "Colon-ly the Dronely," I think we should have focused more on the ups and downs of Teddy trying to pick up Kathleen. He's such a fun character who can carry an episode, especially when paired with one of the Belchers. Pairing him with Linda is always fun so I just wish the writers had kept the focus on that plot. On the same token, if the show didn't want to focus on Teddy and Kathleen, why not dive even deeper into Louise's drone revenge idea?

Then again, this might just be a case of "Colon-ly the Dronely" not being an episode for me. It can happen sometimes and to put it simply, this wasn't a favorite. Either way, we still have next week to look forward to as it's the show's Halloween episode and that's always a treat.

Bob's Burgers airs on Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
