Does the 1990s MTV show Daria need a reboot?

It feels like no matter where you turn, every singleshowis getting areboot.Dariaremains one of those shows that has yet to be rebooted.

That's not to say that MTV didn't try to reboot the series already. Back in 2020, it seemed like we were going to get aDariareboot but this time, it was going to focus on Jodie. However, things quickly fizzled out and by 2024, it was announced that the series wasn't happening after all.

While not a true reboot ofDaria,Jodiewas something else entirely. ATVLine articleshared the details of what the show would have looked like: "Jodie would have followed Daria’s former schoolmate “as she comes into her own and enters the workplace in her first post-college job in tech.” Other former students of Lawndale High would have also appeared." As you can see, it's not the same as the original but would likely still feature our favorite glass-wearing protagonist in some form.

WithJodienot longer moving forward, it does bring up an even larger question which is ifDarianeeds a reboot or it's best to leave the show as is.

Is aDariareboot necessary or not worth the time?

Ultimately, everyone has different feelings about the series, but I adoreDaria. It's easily one of my favorite animated shows of all time and is one I never get sick of. WhileDariatook place in high school, it's a show I watched in college and adored. Personally though,Dariafeels like one of those shows that doesn't need a reboot ever.

Even ifJodiehad moved forward, it wouldn't have been the same asDaria. The thing that madeDariagreat was well, Daria. The series focused so much on her and her outlook on life that was refreshing and relatable. She's such a beloved character and had some of the best one-liners that I don't see any team of writers being able to replicate the magic she brought to our screens.

While Daria is the main focus of the series, the show also gave us storylines about her family, and her friends and even, featured some unlikely actions from Daria. Let's not even talk about the storyline with Daria, Jane, and Tom. That storyline still baffles me to this day and probably isn't something most shows would even think about doing now. Regardless, it made for such a dramatic yet utterly watchable.

Dariawas a greatshowfor its time and it continues to live on. Rebooting it would taint what we all know and love about the series. While reboots can sometimes be a good thing, there is something so untouchable aboutDaria.
