Family Guyis headed back to Fox in February for season 23! It’s freakin’ sweet, especially when the hiatus between season 22 and now felt like a thousand years. Fans are rejoicing as we all missed the Griffins and their whack-a-doo antics. To be fair, Peter is the heart behind many of them, but Lois, Brian, and the kids had their fair share.
In case you didn't know, Fox pushed the latter half of season 22 to Wednesdays, and fans thought theSeth MacFarlane-created comedywas on the brink of cancellation. When season 23 was announced that it was being moved to Fox's midseason schedule, the uncertainty of whetherFamily Guy's future was at stake.
Rest assured, the move was made so that Fox could properly air the premieres of its other animated shows,Grimsburgand the latest addition,Universal Basic Guys, which debuted in September 2024 Yeah, the move was unexpected and annoying, as I love Family Guy and as much as I appreciate the network trying to introduce new programming, it didn't sit right for me whenFGwasn't on Sunday nights.
But as they say, great things come for those who wait, so bring it on!
Here's whenFamily Guywill return to Fox in February

Set your calendars for Sunday, February 16th, and your clocks for 8 PM EST/7 PM CST because that's whenFamily Guywill drop season 36. It'll temporarily replaceThe Simpsons, as Homer and his family will resume season 36 in March.
I honestly feel like there should be another "fight" between Homer and Peter over the schedule of who's the top TV dad, such as when they battled it out in the 2014 crossover, "The Simpsons Guy."
Fox additionally dropped the premiere's synopsis on January 21st. It will be a spoof of the 1980s action movieTop Gunbut titled "Fat Gun," per the style ofFamily Guy.
"The Season 23 premiere ofFamily Guywill parodyTop Gun,which will chronicle Peteras Maverick getting together with Lois as Charlie, the tragic death of Joe as Goose, and Peter/Maverick’s blooming relationship with Chris/Rooster. Additionally, this season, Peter runs into Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at a brewery tour, Lois becomes a stand-up comedian, and Meg starts dating a chicken she meets on a reality dating show. "
To get the fandom revved up for the long-awaited premiere, the official Instagram for the series posted a rather hilarious announcement. Peter literally stopped in traffic to read the billboard sign, which it had the airdate in bold white font.
I'm just glad that the wait won't be much longer, and we can settle back into that comfortableFamily Guyroutine.
