It's a wonderful day for American Dad!, as FOX renewed the animated comedy ahead of its return to the network. It has been a little more than a decade since Stan Smith and the rest of his family were a part of the network's Animation Domination lineup. Between 2014 and 2025, American Dad! was a TBS staple.
The news comes as a FOX 4-show renewal package, a historical mark for both Disney and 20th Century Entertainment, as it reflects the solidarity between the media companies. American Dad! was not only renewed, but so were The Simpsons, Family Guy, and another popular FOX animated comedy. I, for one, couldn't have been more pleased with the decision, seeing how I'm a fan of these classics.
American Dad! had its TBS encore and season 19 finale, "What Great Advancements!" on March 24th. In the episode, Stan Smith is a Depression-era tycoon, going from rags to riches and vice-versa. The animation was inspired by the precode films, transitioning to early early technicolor productions of the late 1930s.
Season 20 will premiere sometime on FOX, most likely during the 2025-2026 TV schedule. Will American Dad!'s neighboring shows be The Simpsons and Seth MacFarlane's other hit show, Family Guy? If so, then the original Animation Domination Block will be back!
FOX orders additional seasons of American Dad!

It was announced by FOX on April 2nd that along with The Simpsons, Family Guy, and another animated comedy, American Dad! has been granted a four-season renewal. Seasons 20 to 23 are a go, which is a strong "welcome back" to its home network, where it all began in 2005.
American Dad! will still air repeated episodes on TBS and Adult Swim, where it has built a core audience. Furthermore, Hulu streams all nineteen seasons and will stream the upcoming ones on FOX. Like Adult Swim and TBS, American Dad! has a prominent hold on Hulu.
Per a press release by FOX and gained by Duff and Donuts, the head of 20th Television Animation, Marci Proietto, is proud of the 4-show renewal and fans will continue to enjoy their beloved favorites starring off-key families with a lot of heart.
"This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at Fox is truly monumental for these iconic animated series. We are so proud that these legendary shows will continue for hundreds of more episodes, allowing new and longstanding fans to watch, rewatch, and experience more of The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad!"
