For being such a fun show, Bob's Burgers has its fair share of unlikable characters. One of those is easily Mr. Frond.

Mr. Frond is the guidance counselor at Wagstaff School and he made his first appearance in season 1 of the show. From the start, it felt like Mr. Frond was trying to steamroll the kids and even, made a home visit without consulting anyone...yikes.

Even so, the show has continued to use him and feature him in many episodes including season 15's premiere, "The Tina Table: The Tables Have Tina-ed." Once again, Frond has an idea, things go awry and then it's up to everyone to prove that the Final Frond-tier isn't as accurate as Frond claims it is. On the whole, it's a pretty solid episode.

However, it does beg the question. Is Mr. Frond a villain in the Bob's Burgers world or is he just misunderstood by others?

Mr. Frond is an understandably complex character.

For the most part, Bob's Burgers toes the line between calling a character bad or making them downright unlikable. The thing about Mr. Frond is that his heart is in the right place, but the way he tries to execute his plans doesn't work. If anything, it makes him seem all the more annoying when his plans don't work.

Regardless of who tries to help him or how things play out, he usually stands in his own way which doesn't necessarily make him a villain. While Frond has done some annoying and borderline weird things in the past, he does seem to want the best for his students, even Louise. Given how infrequent we see teachers on Bob's Burgers, that's something to note.

As far as things go with the Belcher kids, Louise tolerates Frond despite him wanting her respect while Frond seems to not bother much with Tina and Gene. The relationship between Mr. Frond and Louise is such a core part of the series so even if some would consider him a villain, his connection to Louise proves that he's too valuable to not include in a season.

Ultimately, Mr. Frond is annoying but not a villain. His heart is in the right place and he tries his best although it doesn't seem to work out for him. It's hard to put Frond in a box as he's not a villain but he's not exactly misunderstood as he's still annoying, no matter what. Obviously, if you're a Frond fan, you'll have to let us know how you feel about the portrayal of his character on Bob's Burgers.
