DC rumored to be planning more Harley Quinn animated spinoffs

The DC Universe might be gearing up for a reboot, but another DC Universe could quietly be preparing to turn into a full-fledged franchise.
We’re referring to what seems to be quickly evolving into the Harleyverse, which has been built upon the success of DC’s animated hit Harley Quinn. From the moment the series first debuted back in 2019 on DC Universe, the Kaley Cuoco-led comedy has built up quite a cult following and has been heralded as one of the best original series DC has dropped in recent years.
The show has outlived its fellow DC Universe live-action counterparts Titans, Doom Patrol, Stargirl, and Swamp Thing, and continues to thrive as a Max original. Fans can’t get enough of the series which shows absolutely no signs of slowing down!
Season 5 is coming this November, and the show’s popularity helped pave the way for its first spinoff, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, which debuted this summer. While we don’t yet know whether Kite Man: Hell Yeah! will be coming back for a second season after its first season wraps its run, it seems DC is already discussing potential ways to further build the Harleyverse franchise with new spinoffs already in the works.
"We love where we're at right now with what we've been calling the Harleyverse. It's very exciting to have multiple projects coming out that we've been working on,” executive producer Dean Lorey told ComicBook. “We really want to build the universe out, and we've gotten a lot of support from James Gunn and Peter Safran, and Warner Brothers Animation is really behind it. So we're really looking forward to building out this world."
At this time, it’s unclear exactly which characters might get their own spinoff next or even which characters DC and the creative team behind Harley Quinn have been discussing, but there’s hope we might soon find out!
"I wish I could [say more]. In fact, I'm desperate to. But I can't. I'm hoping to have some news relatively soon on at least one of them. Believe me, nobody wants to talk about it more than me.”
There are definitely plenty of amazing characters within the show’s universe who would be deserving of a spinoff, so it’s going to be really interesting to see who might end up following in Kite Man’s footsteps in leading their own spinoff.
If there is one thing we do know is that no character seems to be off the table, after all who’d have thought Kite Man would be the first character in the series to headline his own show? As much as we love Kite Man, he’s not exactly a marquee character in the pages of DC Comics so if DC was willing to roll the dice on him we imagine they might be willing to take a chance on under the radars.
Who knows, maybe the Harleyverse might even spawn a spinoff starring one of DC’s heroes? However, we hope DC chooses to keep things in the villain family as Batman’s Rogues Gallery is full of incredible characters who we’d love to see get the chance to lead their own series.
