Velma hasn’t been renewed for season 3 yet

Interestingly, news of theVelma: This Halloween Needs to Be More Specialcomes asVelmasits in limbo with the show’s future unclear at Max.

The show’s second season wrapped up on April 25, and there has been no word from Max regarding whether a third season is officially in the works. One would think the decision to release a holiday special bodes well for the show’s future; however, there’s apretty good chanceVelmaseason 3 might not be happening.

Since its debut,Velmahas been plagued with negative reviews and has a10% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the show failing to develop a strong following despite its connection to one of the most successful animated franchises.

Max was quick to hand out the show’s season 2 renewal, but months have passed since season 2 was released and there has been no word about the show’s future which is never a good thing. It’s also not promising that Max pulled back quite heavily with the promotion ofVelma’s second season, with the season releasing without much publicity from the brand.

Of course, with Max dropping a Halloween special, there seems to still be hope thatVelmaseason 3 could happen. We’ll just have to wait to see whether Max decides to roll the dice on the show and bring it back for another season, or close the book on this Scooby-Doo franchise withVelma: This Halloween Needs to Be More Specialserving as a final farewell for the show.
