Homer Simpson, the donut and beer-loving patriarch of The Simpsons, has had plenty (and still counting) of iconic moments over the years. The best ones, however, came from the reactions from his children's lives. While Homer may have been aggravated by their behavior, especially Bart's, he loves them with all his heart. And while he's not the perfect father, he always gets his kids' respect in some form or another.

So, what are Homer's best moments? We chosen five so far and they all have to do with his kids!

The 5 best Homer Simpson moments ever so far

"Lisa the Beauty Queen"

Season 4

Homer gave up his dream ride on the Duff blimp so Lisa could be a contestant in the Little Miss Springfield beauty pageant. In his eyes, she's the cutest little girl on the planet, and he wants the entire world to know. Additionally, the pageant was a portal to give Lisa her confidence and self-worth back after an embarrassing and heartbreaking incident at her school's fair.

Homer's action that he was willing to do whatever it takes make his child happy, and if that means not going on the Duff blimp (which by the way, went down like alá Die Hindenburg), so be it. There''ll be another time and place.

"Lisa's Pony"

Season 4

In "Lisa's Pony," Homer forgets to get Lisa a saxophone reed for her recital, and understandably, she becomes upset with him. To try to win his daughter's love back, Homer spends $5000 on a pony, and the gift makes her "the happiest girl in the world."

With the pony, however, becomes a financial burden as Homer had to take the midnight shift at the Kwik-Q-Mart to cover the animal's expenses, including horseback lessons and stable space. Working two jobs while not getting enough sleep puts a toll on Homer, and Lisa must come to a decision of whether to give up Princess, or have her father continue the routine.

I'm not going to say what she decided, as that would be spoiling, but I will say that Lisa appreciated Homer's gesture.

"Summer of 4'2"

Season 7

When the Simpsons go to Flanders' lake house for vacation, Lisa reinvents herself to become one of the cool kids on the beach. Meanwhile, Homer takes the opportunity to completely let loose and just be a guy. His actions are hilarious throughout the whole episode, which is its beauty. He blew up a dishwasher with an M-380 illegal firework bomb, ran outside in a welcome mat because he forgot his swimsuit, and lastly, the "Sweet, merciful crap!" line after discovering the family's car was covered in shells was the cherry atop of the cupcake

In my opinion, "Summer of 4'2" was a perfect season finale and one of The Simpsons' best.

"Lisa's First Word" (Maggie's scene)

Season 4

Homer and Marge flashback to their earlier years when Bart was just a tot, and Marge was pregnant with Lisa. The latter gets jealous of the new addition, as she's taking his parents' attention onto her. As for Homer, he tries to balance being a dad and getting eight hours of TV in a day. It's a dad's life, but some guy has to do it.

While Lisa's word was adorable, as it was "Bart," Maggie's first was an honor to her father, whom she called "Daddy," and was voiced by the late Elizabeth Taylor. It is even better that Bart and Lisa used Homer to identify and annoy him.

"I Married Marge" (Bart's birth)

Season 3

In another flashback episode, Homer tells the story of how he and Marge were expecting, and he did whatever it took to be a strong provider for his family. He went from job to job, until he was able to score the one he was after at the nuclear power plant, despite not having the background or education for it. It was all in his passion and persistence and Burns was impressed.

When Marge was in the delivery room and labor, Homer told off his sarcastic sisters-in-law that he possessed the financial means for the hospital bills and demanded their respect. I think this was the first time Homer stood up to Patti and Selma, and it was needed as the Bouvier twins can be a little hard on him.

When Bart was born, it immediately changed Homer's life and while his first born did pulled his first prank at only ten minutes old, the new dad didn't know that Bart will pull many, many more.

All of these episodes and more can be streamed on Disney+!
