The Simpsons get their game on in Funday Football for Disney+ and ESPN+

The Simpsons and the NFL franchise are collaborating on a new football game that will air exclusively on Disney+ and ESPN+. Titled The Simpsons Funday Football, Homer will finally get his Dallas Cowboys fleeting moment, while Bart will be tossing the ball with the Bengals. It's highly likely that the Simpson boys will get a little competitive on the field. Do you think they'll play fairly? I suspect they won't, and Bart might have a few pranks to score that winning touchdown, but nonetheless, it's sure to be a great game.

I'm not the biggest NFL fan, but I love watching the Super Bowl and hoping that my home team, the Chicago Bears, will actually win a game. I know it's too much to wish for, but in the spirit of things, you get lost in the excitement and ambiance. But as a great Simpsons fan, you can bet that I will watch Funday Football.

But why the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys? Other than the fact that the latter is Homer's favorite team, as revealed in season 3's "Lisa the Greek" and season 8's "You Only Move Twice," there's an actual game playing on the same night as Funday Football. So, the two go hand-in-hand, with perfect symmetry.

The Simpsons Funday Football: Everything to know

You'll want to check in on Disney+ or ESPN+ during the ESPN live broadcast on Monday, December 9th, at 8 PM EST/7 PM CST. As said earlier, the game is between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals, and the teams are playing at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Simpsons cast will lend their voices to their respective characters in the special. Dak Prescott of the Cowboys and Joe Burrow from the Bengals will be guest-starring.

ESPN posted a teaser of The Simpsons Funday Football on (Twitter), where the cameras pan in on the locker rooms that will be visited by the Springfield celebrities and the "weirdos" and Marge and Lisa having their journalistic moments by interviewing the players. Plus, there'll be a few surprises in store.

"Football fans and Simpsons nerds finally come together to watch the game live! From Springfield!" the teaser announces.

Additionally, the event will deliver a state-of-the-art animation display, which the NFL and Sony will output to enhance the viewer and game experience. The immersive technology will provide fans with every gameplay move in real-time action and create a unique event for both franchises. It's a one-night special event, so don't miss the highlight of the season.

Lastly, Disney provided the official synopsis for Funday Football, which FanSided obtained.

"With Springfield’s Atoms Stadium as the setting, The Simpsons Funday Football will be a true family affair as Bart Simpson sides with Joe Burrow and the Bengals while Homer aligns with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. For most of the game, Bart and Homer will let their new Bengals and Cowboys teammates manage the action, but the iconic father and son duo won’t sit on the sidelines for the entire game. Each will select key opportunities to play offense and/or defense, replacing a player and joining his other ten teammates on the field."
