When new leadership takes over, it's not always for the best, but if you're an animation fan, then DC Studios is worth keeping tabs on. While many knock on some of the live-action DC films, the company has yet to disappoint when it comes to animation.

Whether you tuned in to Harley Quinn, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, or Batman: Caped Crusader, there is truly no shortage of amazing TV. That's not to say DC is lacking in animated films either, as there are plans for so many projects in the future.

At this point, we know that Creature Commandos is renewed for season 2, and given how season 1 ended, this is incredibly exciting. That wasn't one of the points of interest in this recent round of updates shared by co-chiefs of DC Studios: James Gunn and Peter Safran.

While Gunn and Safran talked about some upcoming live-action films and shows, there were so many great updates regarding animation. We didn't learn any more details about Dynamic Duo but this quote from Safran feels like a great endorsement: "It provides a kind of perfect on-ramp for family audiences into the world of Gotham..." Sounds like something any and all DC fans can look forward to.

DC is going full steam ahead with its animation lineup.

Variety goes on to report that there is now a Blue Beetle animated series in the works. This feels especially cool as DC has given us some truly amazing animated series. While the live-action movie didn't get much love, an animated series might be the revamp it needs. There is no timeline for this one, but just that it's in the works currently.

If you're looking for animated skewed towards younger viewers, DC isn't pulling any punches in giving us 3 upcoming animated series for kids. There are My Adventures with Green Lantern, DC Super Powers, and Starfire. Of all three, there is no doubt already so much excitement around Starfire because she's such an iconic character. Even if you're no longer within the target audience, it'll probably be worth checking out when it premieres.

Most of the other news was not animation-related like updates on season 2 of Peacemaker, Lanterns, and a Clayface film. While all of those updates are exciting, the animation news has us excited for what's next. Will we see more adult animated shows after DC's announcement of its three shows geared toward kids? Will Superman's popularity give us an adult animated show featuring Krypto?

While we don't have all the answers to our burning animation questions, we can only hope the next DC Studios update is flush with more animation news.
