While some are checking off their Christmas lists, the Belcher siblings are back at it again in the latest episode of Bob's Burgers.
Season 15 has already given us a few surprises and with a title like "They Slug Horses, Don't They?" there's a lot to consider. If you're a long-time fan of the show, you'll know how much Tina loves horses so it's bound to be a solid episode for her.
However, things get more interesting with Louise in the mix. Louise and Tina are one of the most underrated duos on Bob's Burgers so it's nice to get an episode following those two. Ultimately, there is nothing like getting to watch a new episode of Bob's ahead of a long week.
No matter if you're catching the rest of the Animation Domination or making a stop at Bob's Burgers, then we're getting into spoilers from this point on. If you're not caught up, this is your spoiler warning for "They Slug Horses, Don't They?"
Here's what happened in "They Slug Horses, Don't They?"
The episode starts with "Chapter One: Louise," in which the Belcher siblings are watching the Equestranauts together and Louise is playing with her Burob cards. Tina keeps talking about the new horse with glasses, Helen Oates and she goes to help set the table. After dinner, Louise decides to use Tina's new horse to battle with her Burobu figures. Tina confronts her and tells Louise she breaks everything and that she's a brat.
Things get even worse when Louise hands Tina back her horse and the tail breaks off. Linda tries to make Louise apologize but Tina says she won't and Linda gives Louise the choice to make an "I'm Sorry" card or she's grounded. She makes a card in which Tina is Helen Oates and she's framing Louise aka Slug Army Knife. Slug Army Knife ends up setting up Helen Oates and sending her to get grounded.
Next is Chapter Two which is Tina's POV. We're following Tina as she's trying to connect with Louise from childhood to now. Louise gives Tina the "I'm Sorry" card and Tina apologizes before she sees Louise's card and decides to make Louise an "I'm Sorry" card. In Tina's card, Helen Oates takes down a ton of Burobu slugs and goes to the Cosmic Council Hall. This time, Slug Army Knife is sent to get grounded. When Tina goes to drop off her card, she steals Louise's favorite Burobu figure.
Chapter Three is Gayle's and we see how Linda and Gayle's relationship mirrors Louise and Tina's predicament. Gayle and Linda tell the story of an old pair of sisters from high school who got into a disagreement and didn't talk again. Gayle tries to help but Louise and Tina continue to argue as Louise tells Tina she's mean and Tina tells Louise that she's mad Louise thinks she's boring. Tina suggests the two not talk anymore and they both go off to their rooms.
Chapter four just says "The Fourth Chapter," and Gayle shares this collage she made of her and Linda and that no matter how mad Linda was, she still kept it. Gayle explains that being sisters is weird and after hearing that, Louise makes an adorable "I'm sorry" card for Tina and Tina tapes Slug Army Knife onto Helen Oates.
Season 15 of Bob's Burgers is getting better and better.
It's crazy to even write this sentence out, but somehow Bob's Burgers is getting better and better with age. The same could be said about season 15 as the episodes keep getting better. There was so much to enjoy about this episode as we saw Louise and Tina go head-to-head which is rare. However, this time felt incredibly different.
Louise and Tina decided to hit each other where it hurt and it worked. A majority of the episode followed them being angry at each other yet it made sense. While I don't have a sister, I'm sure that's a feeling those with sisters can relate to. Adding in the flashback of Linda and Gayle's relationship, it feels even more appropriate. Ultimately, it proves that things aren't always easy but at the end of the day, you only have your sister.
Seeing the adorable moment of Tina and Louise blasting off brought a tear to my eye. These two are so different yet they still have love for each other. Honestly, this is where Bob's Burgers is at its best because these emotional episodes are some of the show's best. I don't have any complaints about this episode. It's another stellar showing from the Bob's Burgers cast and crew.
Bob's Burgers airs on Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
