Family Guy has had a host holiday-themed episodes, with the spotlight heavily focused on Christmas, with a few Thamksgiving and Halloween ones thrown in. But, has there ever been a St. Patrick’sode?s Day episode? The animated comedy centered on Peter Griffin and his family, who are mainly Irish American, with distant African American, and Lois, a woman who shares the same ethnicity as me- German and Jewish.

Naturally, you’d think there’d be a St. Patrick’s Day episode, but Family Guy has yet to produce one. However there’s a gem of a piece from season 5 where Peter and Brian embark on a journey to Ireland to find the former’s biological father. The episode, “Peter’s Two Dads,” is perhaps, one of the show’s most celebrated. It even included a festive song and dance number in which Seth MacFarlane’s voice was perfectly in sync.

The Family Guy episode “Peter’s Two Dads” is the perfect St. Patrick’s Day watch

In “Peter’s Two Dads”, Peter discovers through his mother’s reveal that her husband, Francis, isn’t his biological father. She had an affair while vacationing in Ireland and Peter is the son of her lover, Mickey McFinnigan. The news makes a rash decision to head to the Emerald Isle to track him down.

Arriving in Ireland, Peter finds Mickey and his pet sheep-who’s a copy of Brian, at no other place but a bar. So, of course, they’re going to drink themselves to a stupor and it’ll prove that Peter’s a McFinnegan by blood. In all hilarity, Peter is a true McFinnigan, but Brian does remind that despite Francis not being his natural dad, he raised like his own. Yet, being Peter, decides to ignore this and gets his gig on with Mickey to the tune of “My Drunken Irish Dad.”

There’s even Irish step dancing and the running of traditional Irish surnames. Even Sheep McFinnigan and Brian get involved with the music, as “My Drunken Irish Dad” is such a bouncy jig.

The track’s title does reflect the stereotypical Irishman and its lyrics are slightly offensive, but it was done in a humorous respect, and brought gold to the episode. It was also an awesome moment in the Family Guy lore, and is part of the 25th anniversary soundtrack.
