Do you find yourself singing along to many of the songs featured in Family Guy? Or are you just entranced by the animation for the melodies that accomplished their perfect pairings? Whatever your favor is when it comes to the ear-worming musical numbers, we have the best news for you. In accordance with and celebration of Family Guy's 25th anniversary, a soundtrack album with eight songs was released this week.
Titled The Family Guy 25th Anniversary Album, it has 8 songs from the show, and spectacular all the same. As Peter Griffin would say, "Freakin' sweet."
It's literally the stuff Family Guy fans want, but at the same time, the tracks remind us of our age, as it has been 25 years since the show premiered in 1999 following the Super Bowl. When Peter Griffin and his charming but oddball family arrived on our TV screens, it was met with controversy, as the material was raw and inappropriate for families. The Simpsons was marked with a similar perspective when it was first broadcast in 1989. Both shows have found their rightful place in pop culture, and TV has revolutionized because of them.
One of the best parts of Family Guy is the musical numbers, taken from other popular show tunes and reworked exclusively for the show. Creator Seth MacFarlane is a fan of Golden Age Hollywood musicals and has incorporated them into his works. You can tell he enjoys singing as he puts his entire soul into the track.
Which iconic songs made it to the final cut on the Family Guy soundtrack? You'll soon find out!
What to know about The Family Guy 25th Anniversary Album
The Family Guy 25th Anniversary Album is released by Hollywood Records, a subsidiary of Disney, and features eight classic tunes. The songs were written by Walter Murphy and MacFarlane, respectively, with MacFarlane providing the vocals in his character personas. Other notable performing cast members include Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Patrick Warburton, Mike Henry, and Seth Green, who joined the chorus.
The tracklist is as follows:
- "You Have Aids" (season 4: "The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire")
- "This House Is Freakin' Sweet' (season 2: "Peter, Peter Caviar Eater")
- "Me and Jesus" (season 7: "I Dream Of Jesus")
- "Prom Night Dumpster Baby" (season 5: "Airport '07")
- "My Drunken Irish Dad" (season 5: "Peter's Two Dads")
- "Shipoopi" (season 4: "Patriot Games")
- "Christmastime is Killing Us" (season 9: "Road To The North Pole")
- "It's A Wonderful Day For Pie" (season 8: "Road To The Multiverse")
Along with the tracks, Hollywood Records, MacFarlane, Family Guy, and Fuzzy Door Productiona, did an Instagram collab to showcase the album's cover. The graphic feature the Griffin family in their opening sequence tuxedos as the pop out of the 5 in 25. It's a bit obscene, but it's signature Family Guy, and besides, I never looked down on anyone's art.
As Christmas is coming, the soundtrack does have the fun and upbeat, but depressing and honest, piece, "Christmastime Is Killing Us." Honestly, MacFarlane should've received a Grammy for his work, as he's singing the song entirely in three characters with distinct voices and sound. That's not an easy task, and hence, he should be awarded for it.

I don't know what could ever top this "carol," unless this upcoming Monday's Hulu debut of the Family Guy special, "The Gift Of The White Guy," will have a holiday melody or two. If the show wants to remain strong, then it needs to stick to one of the formulas that geared its success.
The Family Guy 25th Anniversary Album can be streamed on Amazon Music and Apple.
