The Simpsons will be dropping their Christmas episode this year, but it won't be airing on Fox. It'll be a Disney+ exclusive, and it'll concede with the 35th anniversary of the first episode, "The Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire." Oh, what fun it is to be a fan in this glorious moment!

Let's face it; you can't celebrate Christmas without The Simpsons. With this year's episode, you cannot imagine why you didn't celebrate the holiday with the family in the first place. It's packed with the festive cheer and Simpson humor we all know and love, and what makes it even better is that the entire family can watch it together.

Just like I had done so with mine as a kid in 1989. And trust me, the eighties was a different era of growing up, which added to the specialness. With The Simpsons dropping the new Christmas special, you can bet your Burns dollar that our childhood memories will be revisited in an old-school fashion!

Let’s sleigh into what you need to know about the Disney+ exclusive episode.

What to know about The Simpsons Christmas special on Disney+

Mark your calendars for December 17th because that's when Disney+ will be premiering The Simpsons Christmas special. Titled "O C'mon All Ye Faithful," the episode will ring in some nostalgia, looping back to the first Christmas episode, "The Simpsonss Roasting On An Open Fire," in the essence of some of the plotlines. It'll be a double episode, meaning that its airtime will be over forty minutes, as a regular episode is 22.

I don't want to spoil too much, as that wouldn't be fun, so Duff and Donuts obtained the official "O C'mon All Ye Faithful" synopsis to give you a gist of the narrative and what to expect.

You can read it below.

Famed British mentalist Derren Brown comes to Springfield and uses psychological tricks and showmanship to raise the town’s Christmas spirit. When Homer gets hypnotized and mistakenly believes he is Santa Claus, it sets off a cheery chain reaction and causes everyone to question what they believe and to explore the meaning of “miracle.” Featuring musical performances by Patti LaBelle and Pentatonix, this special double episode marks the 35th anniversary of the original Christmas special from The Simpsons (“Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire”) and airs exclusively on Disney+ starting on December 17th.

In addition to the synopsis, Disney+ released a 30-second trailer of the special. Like in "The Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire," Homer becomes Santa Claus under different circumstances. Every time he impersonates good old Saint Nick, something tragic happens but quickly turns into something magical, just like the wonderment of the holiday season and all that jazz.

Oh, and Ralphie is an elf, but Bart should've gotten the role, as that would have been another delightful parallel of "Roasting." Then you have Burns mocking the Grinch and Homer breaking in and crashing into Moe's.

Nothing out of the ordinary in the Simpsons universe here.

Lastly, we have th poster of "O C'mon All Ye Faithful" where Homer tries to maneuver his car like Santa's sleigh and Ralph is hanging on to dear life, but is oblivious to it.

As we're well nestled in the holiday season, one more gem being added in won't hurt, and I don't know about you, but I'll be consumed in this new Simpsons Christmas installment this year.

But if you can't wait until then, you can always check out another 2024 holiday special, "Gift of the White Guy," from Family Guy on Hulu.

Once again, The Simpsons "O C'mon All Ye Faithful" will stream exclusively on Disney+ on December 17th!
