Brian and Quagmire become local heroes in Family Guy season 23, episode 5, "Dog Is My Co-Pilot. The March 23rd piece emphasized two plots- Brian and Quagmire and Chris and Stewie. Both were hilarious, and it was fun seeing how the pairs worked together on their different pursuits.
Lois points out that the only good thing about Quagmire is that he's an "outstanding pilot" and that his job means the world to him, other than the women. Brian, however, took that nobility away when he landed the plane Quagmire was flying, as he was having, let's say, a bathroom emergency. Brian has zero piloting skills other than playing a simulator game, which isn't precisely FAA-approved.
As a token of their newfound heroism, the two guys go on a press tour, where the story is repeated constantly. Brian lets feed his already swollen ego while it annoys Quagmire, seeing how he flies as both a passion and career and not for media attention unless you count season 5's "Airport '07."
All the press and Brian's self-absorption aggravate Quagmire to the point about whether he should continue his pilot job or quit. With Brian's encouragement, he decides on the latter and returns to his respectable job when he saves passengers from a near-maritime accident.
The FAA later discovered that Brian didn't land the plane (sure, he was at the controls). According to its Black Box, the jet was set on "Autopilot." It serves him right, as he had a snarky attitude the entire time.
Brian and Stewie open a pizzaria in Family Guy season 23 episode 5 "Dog Is My Co-Pilot"

In the second plot, Chris and Stewie opened up a pizzaria, with the tasty pizza Stewie made with the 1960s Easy Bake Oven. If you anything about antique Easy Bake Ovens, then you know that they only take a super hot 200 Watt bulb to bake the treats. Without adult supervision, those toys can get dangerous.
Word gets out that the boys' pizza is delicious and even grabs the attention of a foodie. However, bad luck strikes when the bulb burns out, and since it's something that is over 50 years old, it'll be hard to get one. Chris mentions that the only person who could have one, due to his age, would be their pedophile neighbor, John Herbert.
So, they pay the man a visit, much to his weird and sick delight, and Stewie finds the bulb in the lamp. Old Herbert knows nothing of this, as he's too fixated on Chris. Again, it's creepy.
After all that and impressing the foodie, their little pizza operation shuts down due to health hazards. Oh, well. It was sweet while it lasted, and I did enjoy Chris and Stewie's bonding.
Overall, "Dog Is My Co-Pilot" is the strongest episode this season and I liked it better than "The Chicken or The Meg." That one was a little too much for my taste.
More Family Guy funnies
- Where was Meg? Did she run off with Nugget again?
- Peter squeezing into Quagmire's pilot pants was too much, but unbelievably funny.
- Stewie should have turned the bulb off before unscrewing it, as that thing was hot.
- Peter Davidson spilled his secrets of dating success. Good for him.
- The episode was preempted due to a hockey game and wasn't on its usual 8:00 PM EST/7 PM CST timeslot.
Next week, Family Guy will be on at a new time as The Simpsons returns with the second half of season 36! Woo-hoo!
