Family Guy has been hitting the 8 PM EST/7 PM CST spot on Fox for season 23, with the exception of March 23rd, when it was preempted to a later time for a hockey game. It grounds our gears, too, because sports will always have the upper hand over scripted shows.
This Sunday, March 30th, Family Guy will be moving to a new time, as The Simpsons will reclaim its 8 PM/7 PM slot as the animated continues season 36. The last we saw Homer and his family on Sunday was "Bottle Episode" in December. If you kept track, that's three months of waiting and a long one at that.
So far, season 23 of Family Guy has been pretty solid in terms of its material and humor payoff in the episodes, and to help endure the near-year hiatus and as part of the 25th anniversary, Hulu dropped two holiday-themed episodes in September and November, respectively. Some say these bonus segments are included in season 22, but they're not, as they've been classified as specials and will not air on broadcast TV.
I've been enjoying the new episodes this season, and while some of the storylines were a little out of this world, such as "The Chicken or The Meg," there were plenty of instances where laughing was included. Family Guy isn't meant to be serious; it's intended to relieve stress and offer rather offensive jokes that push the boundaries slightly. Some hate it, but the majority of people that I know love it.
Moving on, here's when Family Guy will be airing at its new time on Sunday, March 30th.
Family Guy will have this permanent time space
Beginning on March 30th and thereafter, Family Guy will start at 8:30 PM EST/7:30 PM CST, following a brand-new episode of The Simpsons, "The Flandshees of Innersimpson." What's more, is that the new Family Guy episode will be titled "Pitch Impefect."
As you probably guessed, the episode is baseball-themed and right on time for the Chicago Cubs Opening Day on April 4th. We'll have a full preview of "Pitch Imperfect" so fans will know what to expect. It's highly likely that Peter will cause a shenanigan or two, and Brian and Stewie will pair up in the grand scheme of things.
Family Guy has plenty more antics coming up in season 23 and they'll resume at their new time on Sunday.
