Family Guy is in for a freakin' sweet congratulations. FOX has renewed the animated show starring Peter Griffin and his dysfunctional family for additional seasons! The patriarch of Quahog, Rhode Island, will have to come up with more shenanigans, but knowing Peter, this job comes easy for him.
The Seth MacFarlane-created comedy has experienced its share of hiccups since its debut in 1999. It went through cancelation twice and was brought back due to its strong DVD sales and time slot on Adult Swim. 26 years later, Family Guy is still a fan favorite and inserted itself into the pop culture mainstream. From its memes, cutaways, and unorthodox jokes, it's always going to be referenced somewhere.
We'll be getting a lot more of Family Guy's humorous elements and crude storylines, given the renewal news. It's Family Guy after all, so I'm confident that the writers will continue the formula, as it made the show a success.
FOX renews Family Guy with the same number of seasons as The Simpsons

Fox not only renewed Family Guy, but the network also renewed its veteran show, The Simpsons, and two others on April 2nd. It was a historic move made by Disney and Fox Entertainment, as these productions are favored during broadcasting and extremely popular on Disney+ and Hulu. The Simpsons reigns on the Disney platform, while Family Guy is Hulu's top show to stream.
So, how many seasons did Family Guy receive in the Fox renewal? The animated comedy was granted four, the same as The Simpsons. The former is in its 23rd season, and with the four-season addition, the show will have 24 to 29. It's unconfirmed how many episodes each season will contain, but some outlets are saying fifteen, while others are stating twenty-two.
In a statement released by the FOX Television Network and obtained by Duff and Donuts, the president, Michael Thorn, states the following:
"“This new deal celebrates the eternal popularity of these iconic comedies, as well as the enduring, prolific relationship we continue to enjoy with our friends at 20th Television Animation and the brilliant creators – that goes double for Seth this time around — and incredible voices behind these contemporary classics"
Last year, Family Guy had a big year, as it was its 25th anniversary. Hulu dropped two holiday specials in its honor, and a soundtrack was released. So, the Griffins are not leaving anytime soon, and that's pretty awesome in our books.
