It's The Simpsons Sunday once again! We usually preview tonight's new episode or inform you whether the funny family will be airing on Fox. With that said, you stumbled into the right place to find out if there will be a new adventure, an encore presentation, or the worst "D'oh" of all, no episode.
Before we tell you what Fox and Animation Domination have in store for tonight, let's do a quick sum-up of The Simpsons season 36. So far, every piece has been nothing short of iconic and masterful. The writers and showrunners, Al Jean and Matt Selman, worked nonstop to ensure that the fanbase would have something to enjoy. Needless to say, their efforts have paid off tremendously. My personal picks would be "The Man Who Flew Too Much" and "Bottle Episode," plus the Disney+ exclusive Christmas episode, "O, C'mon All Ye Faithful."
Reverting back to the "Big Question" if The Simpsons are on tonight, let's find out!
Are The Simpsons on tonight with a new episode?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there will be no new episode or encore presentation tonight on Fox. The absence makes us want to go into "Angry Dad" mode, but other than that, there's nothing else we can do.
Instead, the network will air the encore presentation of the pilot, Going Dutch, the latest Fox installment, at 8 PM EST/7 PM CST. The third season premiere encore of Animal Control will then follow it at 8:30 PM EST/7:30 EST.
CBS will also air the Golden Globes ceremony at 8 PM EST/7 PM CST, so in order not to experience a ratings meltdown, Fox isn't going to air any episodes.
We'll settle the acid with this hilarious clip of Homer, Marge, and Smithers doing a musical number of "Cover It Up." The scene is from last week's episode, "Bottle Episode," when Marge and Smithers became the "Robin Hoods" of the Wine Community."
Speaking of Marge and Smithers becoming "Robin Hoods," here's another clip where the friends are recreated into the Disney adaption. I absolutely love it!
When will The Simpsons return with new episodes?
At this time (of this writing), The Simpsons aren't scheduled to premiere new episodes in the next few weeks. We'll have an encore presentation of the season 36 premiere, "Bart's Birthday," on January 12th.
The next new installment will be titled "The Past and the Furious." It's written by Rob LaZebnik, who wrote "Bottle Episode." We'll keep you fans updated on its airdate!
To get over the drought, you can rewatch season 36 on Hulu and the earlier seasons on Disney+.
