It's literally three days before Christmas, and while we anxiously wait to open our presents revealing what the Big Guy has brought us, there's one present we can open up early. It's a new The Simpsons episode! Airing tonight on December 22nd, "The Man Who Flew Too Much" will reunite Homer's bowling team, The Pin Pals, and a special figure in Homer's life will come to visit.
It'll be an emotional episode, as it reflects that Homer will be away from his family and the presence of a beloved character making a spiritual return. Of course "The Man Who Flew Too Much" will be funny, but that's a given for every installment. I've been enjoying this season so far, as it had so many surprises embedded, and unexpected plot twists.
As such, and because it's Simpsons Sunday, we're going to preview the episode, so you can better prep yourselves!
Previewing The Simpsons "The Man Who Flew Too Much"
As we're sleighing into season 36 and ten episodes under the belt, "The Man Who Flew Too Much" will be a "Homer-centric" piece, as confirmed by The Simpsons co-showrunner, Al Jean Jean via Twitter today. He also wrote the episode and it'll be directed by Steve Moore.
Per the logline from Fox, it looks like Homer and his bowling team have soared into the ranks and will be going for the ultimate trophy in Capital City. In season 5, Homer's co-worker, Mindy Simmons said that the City was the "Windy Apple." In simplicity, a combination of Chicago and New York.
You can read the logline below!
"The new and improved Pin Pals travel to Capital City for their first-ever state bowling championship".
Continuing, one of the promotional stills for "The Man Who Flew Too Much" reveals to be a Christmas scene, which peaked our curiosity of whether tonight's adventure will be holiday-themed. Seeing how we had the first-ever Disney+ special, The Simpsons "O Come All Ye Faithful," it could be, but we'll just have to watch and see!
As for that "special figure" in Homer's life that we mentioned at the beginning, it's Homer's late mother, Mona Simpson. The character's return will also bring back her voice actress, Glenn Close, and as said, it'll be emotional because Homer might be connecting with his mother in some form.
Mona appears to be an apparition, bring "goodness and light" in the still Jean posted on Twitter two three days ago.
