The Simpsons had a great run with season 36 this year, featuring plenty of memorable plots and twists. The good news is that it an't over yet because there are a few more episodes that will encore season 36 with a bang. The bad news is that the finale is very near, and we hate to say goodbye to The Simpsons until the fall.

Some of the standout episodes from the 36th initiation were "Bottle Episode" for its fantastic Disney references and the premiere, "Bart's Birthday," as it was conceived as a vision of what The Simpsons would have as a series finale. Many fans were fooled by it, but rest assured, Homer, his family, and the rest of the eccentric characters that make up Springfield, the State of Confusion, will continue to thrive, as FOX and Disney have renewed the show for at least another four seasons.

Now, that May is approaching, The Simpsons will wrap up its stories and take the summer off. We do have the date for the season finale.

Here's when The Simpsons will have its season 36 finale on FOX

Sit on the couch or set your DVR for Sunday, May 18 at 8 PM EST/7 PM CST, as this is the date and time for The Simpsons season 36 finale. The piece will be the 22nd installment, and yes, those four Disney+ exclusives were counted, with the holiday episode, "Oh, C'mon All Ye Faithful," which comprises two.

The fourth Disney+ piece hasn't been released yet, but I'm suspecting that it will be over the summer, as fans are always hungrig for The Simpsons, and leaving them starving would be a crime against humanity. I noticed a slight difference concerning the broadcast and the streamer's episodes, as the latter seem more family-focused. In contrast, the broadcast episodes are geared toward adults, due to the material and language.

That being said, the differences don't alter the quality of The Simpsons, and I enjoy both versions with a full heart. It would be nice if Disney and FOX could have the exclusive episodes air on broadcast for those who are not subscribed to Disney+. If anything, the proposition would gain subscribers on Disney+
