The Simpsons- TV's longest-running primetime in history- just extended their record. Word came on April 2nd that FOX took a leap and renewed the beloved comedy for several more seasons. This means we'll be getting even more adventures of Homer with his family and friends. As a fan since the very beginning, say, 1987, the news is indeed worth woo-hoo'ng for.

Let me say thatThe Simpsons have been dropping a platinum mine of seasons the past few years and living up to the current cultural referendum while keeping the humor intact. It's not an easy task to accomplish, especially since the world is constantly changing, so I give the writers and showrunners much credit for their hard work in bringing the stories to life. Also, the same applies to the voice actors, as they make the characters authentic and their situations more realistic.

While it's not uncommon to have a nuclear family be front and center on TV, The Simpsons did break barriers with its material and set an example for future productions. For instance, the Australian children's series Bluey was inspired by several of The Simpsons' onscreen artifacts, and Family Guy took a few of the components to use in its storylines.

The FOX network was generous and renewed The Simpsons for four more seasons. We can officially confirm now seasons 37 through 40 are a go, and if the installments each have 22 episodes, it'll be a total of 88, and if you add that number to the current count of 790 (after season 36), you'll have 878 episodes, not counting specials or Disney+ shorts.

According to a press release from Fox and granted to Duff and Donuts, Rob Wade- the CEO of Fox Entertainment- said the the "partnership" with Disney is successful, and the series' continuation will only make it more pronounced.

"The longevity of this agreement reaffirms our commitment to the successful partnership we’ve built with the incredible team at Disney. This collaboration has and will continue to generate meaningful long-term value and strategically build audiences from Fox to Hulu to fans worldwide.”"

The Simpsons is also strong on Disney+, where it's constantly on the "Trending" bar. Last week, the platform announced that the show will have its own 24/7 nonstop streaming block, with 35 seasons rotating back-to-back. It was the fans' wish to have this added to their premium subscriptions, and the wish was met.

With the renewal, we can expect plenty of fun and immersive storylines, predictions coming true, and more of Homer's impulsive antics and whims.

Season 36 is currently airing on Fox and streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
