Disney+ to drop another The Simpsons episode on Earth Day! (and what to know)

See Homer and Marge as a different species, but with the same personalities!

The Simpsons are about to be transformed into the animal species! No, this isn't a resurrection of Treehouse of Horror XIII's segment, "The Island of Dr. Hibbert," but it's an Earth Day-themed episode! We could always use more of those!

Climate advocacy and environmental influence play a significant role in shaping an episode. It's often Lisa as the voice of reason, and she's met with opposing views on her rhetoric. However, eventually, most people come around once they realize the eight-year-old has been right all along. If there's a case where Lisa and another person, say, such as her dad, Homer, don't see eye-to-eye, then a mutual respect is granted.

As it's Earth Day on April 22nd, Disney+ will premiere a brand-new exclusive episode. It makes up for the loss on FOX this week, as there was no new episode of The Simpsons due to the Easter holiday. That being said, let's hope that there are no more breaks or hiatuses, as no Sunday is normal without our favorite TV family.

Beginning on Earth Day 2025, fans can stream the episode, "Yellow Planet," in the seasons list under "Exclusives. The piece will be 22 minutes in length, composed of several segments. It's written by J. Stewart Burns and directed by Timothy Bailey. British actor Hugh Bonneville will guest-star as the narrator, as he eloquently tells the stories of the Simpsons in their new creature forms.

Below is the synopsis and a blink-and-you'll-miss-it preview for "Yellow Planet."

"The Simpsons are reimagined as animals in a National Geographic-style nature mockumentary."

In a still, Marge and Homer are animated as whales, the latter as a Beluga and the former as the "Unicorn of the Sea," a narwhal. Just like their human counterparts, Homer and Marge are in love and if you catch the preview above, he raves about food.

Does he not know that main diet of a Beluga is fish and not pork chops?

I love how the animators incorporated Marge's "beehive" and pearl necklace on her narwhal character ,and with Homer's three strands of hair and 5 o'clock muzzle.

The Simpsons "Yellow Planet" is the third exclusive episode for Disney+. It comes after February's drop of "The Past and the Furious" and the 2024 Christmas piece, "O C'mon All Ye Faithful." There's also a fourth exclusive coming to the streamer, as announced during the biennial Disney convention, D23, in 2024.

What's even more surprising is that very little promotion was invested in "Yellow Planet," compared to its predecessors. The reasoning behind it could be because a significant portion of Disney's advertising budget was allocated to the Star Wars: Andor series, now in its second season on Disney+. The theory isn't an official one, nor has it been confirmed by Disney. It's just rooted in observation.

Despite advertising dollars, "Yellow Planet" promises to be a "swim-tastic" episode and might encourage its audiences to take more initiative in Earth Day and its core values.
