If you grew up watching Adult Swim, you might recall some of the classic shows. One of the most recognizable is Robot Chicken which blended stop-motion animation with incredible writing and great gags.

With the title sequence giving us the titular character of Robot Chicken, the show would follow different characters, people or pop culture figures. The segments wouldn't be more than a few minutes long but each one would bring a unique brand of comedy and make you laugh or think or sometimes, both.

The show first premiered on Adult Swim on February 20th, 2005, and ran until 2022. 17 years is a long time for any show but for one like Robot Chicken, it felt even cooler. That's why it's so great to see Adult Swim giving back and allowing the show to come back to celebrate its premiere all these years later.

According to a press release from Warner Brothers Discovery: "The latest installment, “The Robot Chicken Self-Discovery Special,” follows the hapless Robot Chicken Nerd as he seeks self-discovery America’s way: going on reality shows! Will he find a 90 Day Fiancé – or end up Shark Week chum? With parodies of fan-favorite series from Discovery, Food Network, and TLC, the new special arrives on Adult Swim this summer." As you can see, WB and Discovery aren't going to be afraid to poke a little fun at themselves and their different properties when the special airs.

Robot Chicken remains a classic all these years later.

No matter if you watched the show or not, you're likely familiar with some of the show's reoccurring characters, including the Nerd, Bitch Pudding, the Gummy Bear, or the Unicorn. Honestly, there are so many fun and iconic characters featured in the show. While the regular characters made the show all the funnier, the show's humor is what took it to the next level.

There are certain parodies that continue to delight fans to this day including a Scooby-Doo parody featuring the characters as they descend on Camp Crystal Lake, the Gummy Bear sketch, the one with the Giraffe in an unfortunate situation, and many more. Everyone has a different Robot Chicken sketch they love and always go back to me. Personally, mine is always the Scooby-Doo Camp Crystal Lake one as that one is just iconic.

The other noteworthy detail about Robot Chicken is the sheer amount of celebrities who lend their voice to the show during its run. As we know, Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, Breckin Meyer, and Tom Root all voiced characters and appeared in many episodes. However, some other noteworthy stars include Rachel Leigh Cook, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mark Hamill, Kevin Bacon, Scarlett Johansson and so much more. Just looking at the list on IMDB is overwhelming.

No matter, Robot Chicken was a late-night treat for those who stayed up, were working late, or just needed something to help them get to sleep. It felt like a treat to stay up and watch a few sketches before finally heading to bed. While it might not always end up in the conversation, there is no denying just how iconic Robot Chicken is and how much it did for Adult Swim.
