DC Studios has been undergoing a lot of chances lately and one of those is James Gunn being appointed DC's newest CEO and co-chairman. One of his first projects to be greenlit was Creature Commandos.

The series premiered at the end of 2024 and is now wrapping up to start 2025. Despite that, the show has already been renewed for season 2. The same can't be said for Kite Man: Hell Yeah! which premiered in July 2024.

For those who have watched both series, it's clear they're two different properties. Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is much more lighthearted and comedic while Creature Commandos plays into the darker and gritter side of things. Regardless, both shows found their audience and have been enjoyed by DC fans alike.

However with Kite Man: Hell Yeah! not being renewed for season 2 yet, it's a little nerve-racking and brings up a few questions on what's next for the series.

Will Creature Commandos push Kite Man: Hell Yeah! out?

Before getting into my thoughts on this, let me be clear that I love both Creature Commandos and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!. They're such different shows but are such fun watches. If you haven't watched one or the other, then do yourself a favor and try them out. You'll probably be surprised by what you find.

With that disclaimer out of the way, it is incredibly unusual to see Creature Commandos getting renewed when we've heard nothing about Kite Man: Hell Yeah! Aside from the fact that Kite Man premiered first, the season has already wrapped versus Creature Commandos which hadn't yet finished up its first season. Since it's James Gunn's baby, it's clear why it got renewed first.

However, the frustrating thing is that Kite Man: Hell Yeah! has as much humor as Harley Quinn. In a way, it feels like a great companion as it's funny, has likable characters, and has an overarching plot which was teased in the final episode. The animation style has the same feel as Harley Quinn as it was created by the same people who gave us Harley Quinn.

Even without those comparisons, Kite Man: Hell Yeah! brings something fun and fresh to the table, especially since the rest of DC's animated lineup has already been renewed. Ultimately, it would be sad to see Kite Man: Hell Yeah! get canceled as the storyline was just starting to ramp up. However, it will all come down to if it fits with James Gunn and Peter Safran's vision.

Until then, you can rewatch season 1 of Kite Man: Hell Yeah! on Max.
