Lois Griffin has had it with Peter and his endless shenanigans, so she takes her frustration out on the comedic stage in the March 9th airing of Family Guy season 23, episode 4, "Lois CK."
As usual, Peter pulls one of his maniacal shenanigans, which leads him to get encased in ice. Lois had to crack through the frozen stuff to free her husband, causing her to be late for Girls' Night. She missed the concert but still had time for drinks. She's still upset about Peter's fiasco, so she cracks (and innuedo) about him at the bar's Open Mic Night.
Lois finds success quickly, giving herself the stage name of Lois CK, which isn't a play on the dethroned comedian, Lous CK, but for Lois Crowd Killer. The name was shortened for the marquees, which makes absolute sense, as shortened names tend to attract audiences.
Once Lois CK blows up, she's unstoppable, as husband jokes are the new hot thing in comedy, and with her style of just ripping Peter apart, Lois lets it get to her ego and head. Brian and Stewie try to call her out, but to no avail. Also, in this episode, the dynamic between Brian and Stewie is everything.
But did Peter genuinely deserve to be his wife's comedic muse? As much as I have to question his behavior at times, (and it's a lot), no, he didn't. He did pull another stunt to get her to stop creating material.
Peter Griffin gets serious in Family Guy season 23 episode 4 "Lois CK"
Peter has one more shenanigan up his sleeve, and it's a shenanigan of all things serious. To get Lois to not make a joke about him on stage, He dresses in a suit and acts like he's the most intelligent person on the planet. Peter has done this before; in season 4's "Petarded," he develops a smug attitude after winning the children's version of Trivial Pursuit. I love how "Lois CK" subtly called back "Petarded," as it means that the show is keeping true to its original roots.
Plus, he tossed out his box of shenanigans, so you know he's not fooling around.
This "act" goes on for a week or so, and as a result, Lois can't develop new material. However, she missed a golden opportunity to incorporate Peter's geeky persona into her comedy, and that would've gotten the laughs. Instead, she bombs by telling stale jokes, and the crowd riots.
Peter, no matter what his wife does, unconditionally loves her. In a sweet moment, he saves from the wraith and takes the food and drink tossing. So it all worked out in the end.
Family Guy "Lois CK" final thoughts
- Who knew that Lois's full name is Loisabeth?
- Stewie was quite a snark, but I feel bad for his Cheerios incident.
- Chris being used as a pee-er for Lois's drug testing is plain gross. Does she even know that doesn't work?
- Brian is always hitting on Lois. Give it up Poochie. It's annoying.
